| We at TA Drilling fully endorse the
Melfred Borzall line of products purely down to the fact that as the
leading supplier of HDD tooling, the quality of service and technical
support provided by them is unrivalled with this industry. Since 1946
they have set the standard for other tooling manufacturers to follow
after Melfred Borzall’s Fred Melsheimer introduced the first
commercial HDD system.
After more than half a century of ongoing development and innovation,
Melfred Borzall HDD tools continue to lead the industry with quality
construction, productive designs and cost effective pricing. To
this day the engineers at Melfred Borzall keep pushing and expanding
the boundaries of HDD tooling development for higher standards and
performance.
The range offered by Melfred Borzall includes Reamers to suit ALL
types of ground conditions including rock drilling at varying diameters
of bore.
Since the year 2000 Melfred Borzall’s products have been
stocked within the UK by TA Drilling, and within that time a number
of staff have been to Melfred Borzall’s manufacturing plant
at Santa Maria in the United States for Training and development
purposes. This has only strengthened the relationship between TA
Drilling and Melfred Borzall, and also ensures that the UK HDD market
is fully supported for sales and service for these products.

eagle claw and
blades
You’ll never have to scratch your way through
hard rocky conditions again. The new Eagle Claw will enable you
to rip through the toughest conditions
Unique balanced cutting design improves efficiency and stability
Minimal vibration to drill stem and drill rig
Carbide buttons are precisely placed to minimize wear on bit body
Easily threads on to a standard side load or end load housing
Quick and easy change out of carbide cutter teeth
Optional bit body allows you to switch from the Eagle Claw to standard
bolt-on blades |
 |
The Bear Claw is
the King of Beasts in directional blades. Extra large conical carbide
cutters get you through those nasty soils. The heat-treated steel
has a strip of abrasion resistant hardfacing on all wear edges to
make the Bear Claw one tough and long, long lasting blade. Bent
blades have a hard-face patch on bottom to prevent excessive wear
caused from high pressure drill fluid. |
 |
| The new Excalibur directional blade from Melfred
Borzall is just the right weapon to subdue those rocky and abrasive
bores. Tungsten carbide tips along the bull-nose front end give a
grinding and crushing cutting action. This bull-nose front end also
greatly reduces the amount of rotational drag and wear on the blade.
Additional carbide tips strategically placed along the side give this
blade a long productive service life. A hole at the front of the blade
allows a swivel to be attached to pull back small diameter product. |
 |
| The Chunky Blade is an economical blade that holds
up through multiple bores. The cutting edges are impregnated with
carbide chunks to resist wear and for optimum performance. Perfect
for sand, clay, and some hard formations. |
 |
| The Valu-Blade is the ideal bit for drilling and
steering through standard soil conditions. Just as its name implies,
the Valu-Blade is a lot of bit for a little money |

sonde housings
and tail pieces
These side-load housings are designed for quick and easy installation
and removal of the sonde. They are designed for excellent steering,
high productivity, long life, and superior strength. All feature
replaceable tailpieces for longevity, the "Supernozzle"
for maximum steering, and high quality chrome-moly alloy construction.
The "bolt-on blade" style is a rugged design for use with
all styles of bolt-on blades. The ‘screw-on bit" style
is a versatile housing that can use bolt-on blades |
 |
| Melfred Borzall Tail Pieces allow you to attach
your Borzall Transmitter Housing to just about any directional thread
on the market. Plus, if you gall a thread, you just replace the Tail
Piece, not the entire housing. All Tail Pieces are CNC machined from
a heat-treated steel alloy to directly match your drill rod or lead
bar threads |

starter bars and
hex collars
Melfred Borzall’s Quick-Disconnect Starter Rods allow you
to easily detach directional heads and reamers from your drill rig.
These starter rods have a built-in, heavy duty check valve to help
minimize nozzle clogging. All 2.5" and larger Starter Rods
also feature a second collar bolt to minimize the "weak link".
|
 |
| Melfred Borzall’s Hex Collars are heat-treated
and available with a hardfaced or carbided front edge for maximum
life. |

Front Coupling
Rear pulling eyes and reamers
This selection of threaded couplings will allow you to use any
Borzall Backreamer on your particular brand and model directional
rig. This is the connection that will go on the front of the reamer
(toward the drill rig). |
 |
| This selection of threaded couplings will allow
you to attach a Borzall pulling swivel or your existing swivel to
the rear of any Borzall Backreamer. When using a Borzall pulling eye
with a Borzall swivel, you won't have to worry about your swivel flopping
down. |
 |
| \jug-er-not\ n- “a massive inexorable force,
movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path.” Melfred
Borzall’s new deluxe fluted reamer, the Juggernaut, combines
the ruggedness of a heat treated alloy steel body with the longevity
of replaceable carbide cutters. Not only are the cutters replaceable,
but there are more of them than on any other fluted reamer in its
class. The result is a smoother, more efficient cutting action.
A welded, “shark tooth” style Juggernaut is also available.
Both styles come with a Deluxe DUB flange swivel that is enclosed
in a steel housing to keep the bearings from being exposed to the
mud and grime. The deep, spiraled fluting allows for plenty of slurry
to flow past the reamer.
|
 |
| The Sabertooth is the must-have reamer for tough
combination soils. It has proven success in tough ground conditions
including clay and cobblestone combinations. Durable bullet carbide
precutters and aggressive shark-fin cutters in a precise spiraling
pattern give the Sabertooth awesome cutting and mixing action. Larger
sizes can be made to order |
 |
| Strategically placed carbide-tipped cutting teeth
to effectively and efficiently rip through tough ground conditions,
including sandstone, cobble, and shale. Angled fluid passages along
the cutting blades provide plenty of flow and assist in keeping the
blades clean from build up. The Shredder backreamer is built for performance
and priced for value. It’s available in sizes from 10"
to 30" for all mini and mid size directional drill rigs |
 |
| The Terminator is the ultimate weapon for backreaming.
It has proven itself in the widest variety of destructive ground conditions
around. We guarantee you will see your pressures drop and your reaming
production rise. Larger sizes can be made to order. |
 |
| The Terminator Jr. allows you to backream up to
a 9" hole without ever taking off the drill head. This Blade
Reamer securely bolts on to the front of a Borzall Excalibur blade.
The Terminator Jr. utilitzes the same style blade as found on the
Terminator giving it an amazing cutting and mixing action. A tab on
the back of the Terminator Jr. allows a Borzall Valu-DUB swivel to
be attached without flopping down. |
 |
Melfred Borzall’s UltraBit is the newest
addition to a long line of successful bits for HDD applications. The
UltraBit is a versatile, long-wearing bit for hard, compact soil and
gravel. The carbide impregnated hardfacing and carbide teeth resist
wear and cut through the toughest conditions
|
 |
|
Dub Swivels
The Deluxe-DUB swivels are fitted with bearings that can handle
tensile, compressive, and side loads. The intricate quad-stage seal
system is specifically designed to protect these bearings from the
harsh conditions encountered during directional drilling.

The patented ZapalertTM helps
alert crews to the possibility of a strike on an underground power
line. It’s also capable of alerting you if a buried power
line is accidentally damaged during drilling. The Zapalert easily
installs on directional drilling rigs. Tested from 100 volts to
100,000 volts AC. Requires a 12 or 24 volt DC power source. |
