The Astec® EarthPro™
Series DD-3238
The Astec® EarthPro™ Series DD-3238 offers contractors
the power and features of a much larger unit with the mobility and
flexibility to fit onto any jobsite in any environment.
The DD-3238 provides 32,000 lbs of thrust/pullback force with the
capability of up to 3,800 ft-lbs of rotary torque. The maximum rotary
speed can reach up to 225 rpm. The drill weighs 20,000 lbs., and
is 247 inches long by 89 inches wide. The DD-3238 is powered by
a 125-horsepower John Deere turbocharged diesel engine. It also
has an onboard FMC mud pump that can pump up to 47 gallons per minute
at up to 1500 psi. This new drill also boasts the field-proven dual
rack-and-pinion carriage drive that has made American Augers’
maxi-rig drills the market leaders. The floating carriage is capable
of two speeds, including a 120 ft/min fast mode for adding and removing
rods.
The DD-3238 uses 10-foot drill stem and can carry up to 500 feet
of pipe. The powered pipe greaser and state-of-the-art rod loader
are standard features, as are the floating open-top vise wrenches.
The ergonomic operator’s station includes a microprocessor-controlled
electronic readout for all the function gauges. The LCD screen is
backlit and has function key operation for quick and easy view of
all critical drill functions. It also offers both a drill mode and
machine diagnostic screen for quick and easy information gathering.
The multi-function single joystick controls all drill functions,
and the comfortable, adjustable seat helps combat operator fatigue.
In addition, the DD-3238 offers independent rear stabilizers, and
a single-drive stake down system that can put down up to four stakes
if necessary, and offers optional rock augers. It has a tethered
travel control unit to help operator visibility during tramming
and transport, and the improved front-drive track system offers
traction and balance. The patented Es!Lok system is integrated into
the drill controls, and there is an additional strike alert system
with a voltage sensor for added safety.
The sleek new look and style of the DD-3238 comes through with
the new front and rear hood design that allows easy, ground level
access to the engine and hydraulic systems. The drill’s mud
pump is also covered by the rear hood for added protection and curb
appeal. |
