Astec Underground Utility Trenchers

The forerunners of the Astec trenchers were developed by Charles Davis in 1959. Recognized as an industry leader, Davis trenchers were renowned for their innovative designs and rugged reliability. The line was purchased by Case in 1969, and the machines carried the Davis-Case Label until the Mid 70’s when the Davis label was dropped. Case nurtured the line until 2002 when it was sold to Astec Underground and the machines received the Astec Brand.

Astec underground continues to enhance the lines reputation for performance and durability. Mainstay models like the Maxi-Sneeker and the TF300B still have a respected place in the Astec line up. Innovative walk-behind trenchers like the RT130 and the RT160 are quickly joining them. These newly engineered units pay homage to the Astec heritage while confidently demonstrating our future.

Astec's trenchers come in a variety of sizes to suit a broad range of applications. From the 13 horsepower Astec RT60/RT130 walk behind Trenchers to the 185 horsepower Astec T560, Astec Underground can provide the right machine for your needs.

Astec 60

The popular 13 horsepower Astec® 60 trencher (720 lbs.) is perfect for light trenching jobs, yet if offers big-trencher features like hydrostatic ground drive and hydraulic boom raise and lower.

The belt-driven planetary trencher will dig to maximum depths of 24 to 36 inches at widths of 4 to 6 inches.

Minimal controls are grouped together making this trencher very operator friendly. A neutral lockout feature for operator safety is standard.

The RT130

The RT130 is an updated version of the popular Astec® 60 trencher weighing in at approximately 200 lbs. heavier than it’s predecessor and now FULLY hydrostatic, this machine boasts a number of new features like a patented transaxle with automatic differential lock, Electric start and a reversible digging boom that puts our competitors in the shade when it comes to low cost trenching.

The RT130 trencher will dig to maximum depths of 24 to 36 inches at widths of 4 to 6 inches.

An operator presence system and ergonomic colour coded controls are designed to allow even novice users to operate this unit with total confidence, and making it the perfect trencher for Small contractors or Rental outlets.

RT 160 Trencher

The RT160 walk-behind trencher features a powerful 24-horsepower Honda gasoline engine and compact size to make it perfect for a variety of weekend trenching chores. Hydrostatic ground drive means low maintenance costs because it eliminates troublesome belts, clutches, chains, and sprockets.

And it provides inching precision and infinitely variable speeds to ensure flexibility in different applications and conditions. The RT160’s controls are user-friendly and include an electric start, single-joystick operation, and Astec’s unique “automatic parking brake” operator presence system.

Astec TF300b

This Astec® 18.5 horsepower mechanical trencher is a favorite for footing and flush trenching, as it can trench right next to the side of a house or a sidewalk. This model is available with steel or rubber tracks.

The trencher consists of a mechanical trencher with an over center slip clutch. It will dig to a depth of 45 inches at 4 to 16 inches in width.

A full swing open hood allows for complete access to all components.

Available with Trencher, Hydrabore and Backfill Blade options.

The ground pressure with the backfill blade attachment is only 3.1 pounds per square inch, ensuring a minimal footprint in residential neighborhoods and on golf courses

Astec Maxi Sneaker

The Astec® Maxi-Sneaker Series C is the most popular drop plow in the world. It delivers 33.5 horsepower with a four-cylinder, liquid-cooled diesel engine.

The Maxi has a low profile and side mounted operator seat allowing it to sneak into a yard through gates and sneak out again with a minimal footprint.

The versatile P40 vibratory plow is designed to give plenty of fracturing force, while minimizing restoration needs. A variety of feed blades are available to match cable installation requirements, thereby eliminating cable damage.

astec 460

This trencher is equipped with a 37 horsepower Kubota engine with a rigid-frame. The only trencher in its class to feature a full-floating axle design to withstand heavy loads for long life, it can dig to depths of 60".

The Astec® 460 allows the customer to have either a direct drive hydraulic trencher or a heavy-duty flywheel trencher used on the 560.

The spacious operator compartment features conveniently located, full instrumentation and excellent visibility to enhance productivity.

astec 560

This very popular trencher comes standard with a six-way blade, Outboard planetary axles, a heavy duty flywheel trencher, four wheel steering, and four wheel drive.

The Astec® 560 has two optional backhoe attachments. A 24 inch cable plow can also be added to set up the machine as a trencher / plow combo.

Astec 660

Built for performance, the Astec 660® has a Case 4-390 67 horsepower engine and a limited slip differential to boost traction. It has a heavy duty radiator for high capacity cooling. Its compact width of only 71 inches allows it to slip into tight work areas, wherever it is needed.

astec 960

This 99.5 horsepower trencher consistently outperforms and out maneuvers all other hydrostatic trencher models. The four speed Hydrashift transmission with true on-the-go shifting makes it easy to match ground and attachment speeds to soil conditions and job requirements.

T560

The T560 is a hydrostatic drive chain trencher with a 185-horsepower Cummins turbocharged, after-cooled diesel engine. It features a two-speed infinitely variable digging chain drive for changing ground conditions and machine leveling capability for trenching on sloped surfaces.

The forged tailwheel provides smooth chain operation. True load sensing helps maintain balance between track speed and trencher speed for maximum productivity. The low-profile digging chains allow for optimum tooth penetration. This unit can achieve trenching depths from four to eight feet and widths from 10 to 24 inches. Routine service points are easily accessible from the ground.
